A time of friendship, socializing and sharing learning experiences with others is one of the greatest moments anyone can have. That's what I had last month at the Associated Collegiate Press convention in Kansas City, Mo. In one session, African-American student writers and broadcasters from all over the country discussed their roles in newsrooms, the presidential debate between Sen.

Ever since the government passed the $700 billion bailout, everyone wants their share of the money.
The auto industry approached the government last week to see if it could get in on the aid that many banks have been receiving but instead got rejected by Congress and told try again.

Everywhere I go, I hear how everyone is so ecstatic that Barack Obama will make their lives better. Oprah even went as far as to call him "The One." How could she not with all the promises he made to the American people?
According to Obama, he's going to make America energy independent, give everyone health care, cut taxes, bring peace, lower gas prices and, Lord knows how many other things.

Lest our discussion on free will turn to bickering, I believe it best to address a motif in many of Ken Ueda's writings regarding the inconvertibility of Christians. That is, Christians often say that neither human reason nor experience can persuade them that atheism is true and Christianity is false.

Just the other night some friends and I were having a nice, friendly political discussion. That is a lie. It was honestly quite harsh until we were finally able to get past the socially accepted labels of liberal and conservative and talk about real issues.

Thanksgiving can be summed up in just a few words, all starting with the letter "F": family, friends, food, feast, football, faith, fellowship, fun, fattening, festive, fragrant and familiar. The following day could well be described as a foolish frenzy of purchases.

Enough is enough. The nationalizing of industries by the federal government with a "bailout" bait on the hook will not lead to long-term success of American industries. This is a political ploy by liberals in Congress to dictate business policies through detrimental Corporate Average Fuel Economy standards at our expense.

Imagine growing up in Rome and never visiting the Sistine Chapel, or living in Russia and never hearing anything by Tchaikovsky. That's exactly the situation many Americans are in now.
Most of you reading this have never seen "Citizen Kane." Orson Welles' 1941 fictional biopic about media magnate Charles Foster Kane is widely regarded as the greatest movie ever made.

If this year's presidential election were a movie, it would be one of those pre-packaged Hollywood spectacles that advertises for months in advance, spends hundreds of millions of dollars and then completely flops.
We saw the charismatic underdog on a mission to save the world with his infectiously hokey optimism while his moose-hunting sidekick provided the plucky comic relief, the would-be hero finally triumphing over the evil corporations/corrupt world leaders in a sappy anti-climax everyone knew was coming.

Since Election Day, disappointed voters have made public expressions of their displeasure with both their feet and their wallets.
Disgruntled Obama opponents? No, gay rights activists angered over the narrow passage of California's Proposition 8, in which voters sought to overturn a state Supreme Court decision allowing marriage between two same-sex people.

It's Thanksgiving time, when we're all supposed to list all the good things that we are thankful for.
The fact that you're reading the Opinion section means that you know how difficult this can be. People usually don't argue about the good things. Opinion sections are for discussions on genocide, war, famine, tyranny, crime, unemployment and taxes.

How dare the university enter students into an agreement with a financial institution of which we know nothing about without even bothering to ask our opinion beforehand.
For those that do not know, the university is partnering with Higher One Inc., a financial services company focused entirely on servicing higher education institutions.
